Au Gratin Kielbasa Potatoes

Kielbasa makes a great addition to this otherwise traditional side dish. These tasty potatoes are great served with most meat dishes.

  • Servings: 4 - 6 servings


4 Russet Potatoes, sliced in eight pieces
3 Tbsp Butter
¼ cup Scallions
3 Tbsp All Purpose Flour
2 cups Milk
1½ cups Shredded Cheese
1 Kielbasa, sliced in quarter sizes
Salt & Pepper, to taste


Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Butter a 1 quart casserole dish. Layer 1/2 of potatoes in prepared casserole dish. Top with kielbasa slices, and add remaining potatoes. Season with salt and pepper to taste. In a medium saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Mix in flour and salt then stir constantly with a whisk for one minute. Stir in milk and cook until mixture has thickened. Stir in cheese all at once, and continue stirring until melted, 30-60 seconds. Pour cheese over potatoes, sprinkle scallions on top, and cover dish with aluminum foil. Bake 1 and a 1/2 hours.
