This is a recipe that my mother got from her father's side of the family who lived in New Orleans.

  • Servings: 1
  • Prep Time: 2 minutes
  • Cook Time: 2 minutes
  • Total Time: 4 minutes

Ingredients:

2 slices Bread, i like white or wheat
1 Heaping Tablespoon Peanut Butter
2 tsp Mayonnaise
1 slice Onion, more if you like

Directions:

I sometimes toast the bread and sometimes I don't, it is good either way. Sometimes I grill it after it is assembled (like a grilled cheese is grilled).

Toast two slices of bread, spread both slices with peanut butter, spread mayonnaise over the peanut butter. Put onion slice(s) on mayonnaise.

Cut sandwich on an angle and enjoy!

Helpful Tips:

*** You can serve as "open face" sandwiches too! *** You can do these ingredients on crackers instead of bread and serve as appetizer or snack. They had lots of savory recipes that included peanut butter... This is a family favorite, and I have been eating these for almost 60 years....Enjoy! The combination may sound crazy...but it is crazy good!
