Cooking Bacon

Has anyone ever cooked bacon on your grill? Usually I cook mine on the outside grill but it is too cold right now. I have a few recipes that just need a few pieces at a time so I cook the whole package and then freeze it. I might have to shield my wall   so I don't get splatters when I Iift the top...Sherry8

Sherry, thanks for letting us know the bacon cooked so well on the grill.  I may have to get some just so I can try it - LOVE bacon but it is a rare treat in this house.

winkI did cook half of the bacon on the electric grill...believe me I will never cook it in a pan again. My Evolve did a wonderful job. I set it for 350 degrees and I always like to cut my bacon in half so we get small pieces and I cooked it that way....all the grease drips off. I did turn it once but I don't think I would of had to if I didn't want to.

    .

Now I will freeze this cooked bacon in a freezer bag and save it for recipes that call for bacon...I was really dreading cooking the bacon but with the George foreman it was really simple...no splattering on me at all.  Now for dinner I will heat up the grill again and cook the rest of it.....Sherry8

We eat more bacon in the summer than we do in the winter....except for in recipes that call for a few pieces of it. We love BLT's with our own tomatoes...we do make sure we only eat 1 1/2- 2 pieces of Bacon on our sandwich...

    .

I should take it out of the freezer so I can make it and have bacon and eggs this week....I will have to check with my husband to see what his schedule is, I will save this for a day he is going to be later or isn't sure what time he will be home. We will eat a  breakfast for dinner...Sherry8

That sounds like it would work.  Have you tried it yet? We rarely have bacon - maybe once or twice a year because of all the salt.

It recommended on a site to put the bacon on the grill and cook it with the cover down  and then turn it after 3-4 minutes...then close the grill again and cook until you get the desired crispness...I am sure if you didn't put too much on at one time it would work best...Sherry8

Sherry, if you try to cook bacon on it let me know how that works.  I like the idea of the grease draining off.   I wish our grill came apart like yours does so it would be easier to clean.

Host Becky...Mine has ridges and that was what I was going to cook the bacon on...I have seen it done on shows but I have never tried it. I thought it would be ideal because of the grease dripping off of it away from the food...Sherry8

My grill is old and has ridges so I've never thought about cooking bacon on it.  I bet it would be good.  Let us know if you try it.
