Sourdough Hawaiian Pizza

Homemade sourdough pizza crust with barbecue sauce, ham and pineapple-just like your favorite pizzeria.
 

Ingredients

  • 1 pkg yeast
  • 1 1/2 cups warm water
  • 1 cup white flour
  • 2 cups oat flour (or 4 cups uncooked oatmeal ground into flour)
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup olive oil
  • 1 can diced pineapple
  • 2 cups chopped ham or bacon
  • 1 onion
  • 1 cup parmesan cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup barbeque sauce

Quick sourdough starter: Place warm water in glass jar with a pinch of sugar and yeast. Cover and leave in a warm place for at least an hour. Dough: In a large bowl combine flour, salt and sugar with starter liquid and olive oil. Knead dough for a few minutes. Cover and leave in a warm place for an hour to rise. Pizza: Shape dough into two medium or four small pies and place on baking sheet or large nonstick pan. Brown ham and onion in skillet. Chop pineapple chunks finer, and add to ham and onion. Spread barbeque sauce thinly and evenly over each pie. Sprinkle parmesan cheese, add ham and pineapple mixture, and mozzarella cheese. Bake at 375 degrees for 45 minutes to an hour.

 

Notes: Makes two medium or four small pies.
